Pinkalicious started as a dream. The dream to throw a great party. Something different. Something that Melbourne’s lesbian scene had never seen before. A party to get all those girls who didn’t go out, or had stopped going out, back out and on to the dance floor.
So in late 2008 we threw the first pinkalicious – female only, stylish, fun and friendly – and changed the Melbourne lesbian scene forever. Our aim was to attract a diverse group of women. It’s an event for women of all shapes, sizes and walks of life – bi and straight girls also feel welcome and come along with their lesbian friends.
Then in mid 2009, we wanted to throw a party for all our friends in the LGBTIQ community. And so sundaylicious was born. It rapidly became the Sunday session for the community in Melbourne. No matter who you are you can walk in, and see someone like you.
Whatever we chose to do, it always has to meet our two core values – fun and friendly. And we support that with great uplifting vocal house music by the most fabulous DJs, including the one and only Mike Evans.
We also love bringing some of Melbourne’s most stylish venues to the community, including everyone’s favourite, The Wharf Hotel, and our most recent addition The Deck. Not to mention home of pinkalicious – Rydges Hotel, Melbourne.
Most importantly it is the amazing group of people who have made pinkalicious and sundaylicious what they are today. We always welcome feedback and new ideas so if you have something you want to share, please chat to us (Julie and Lisa) at the next event or drop us a line.
